64bit version of Control Web is here
“64bits” is a new marketing buzz-word in the world of mobile phones and tablets, but it is rather common in the world of Personal Computers. Despite the 64bit systems are available for many years, especially recently number of newly installed 32bit systems sharply declines and 64bit systems dominate. Surprisingly, general understanding what does it mean is very low and particularly baffling is the fact, that 64bit operating system is (fortunately) perfectly capable to run 32bit applications. The answer to the question which driver version (32bit or 64bit) to install requires understanding of a few concepts. (more...)
DataCam ETH Adapter
DataCam digital cameras use USB 2.0 interface for communication with the host computer, offering high transfer speed up to 480 Mbps and plug-and-play connection. Moreover, USB interface includes power supply for cameras, which do not need separate power supply, but on the other hand, the maximum distance between cameras and computer is limited. DataCam ETH Adapter removes this only disadvantage of the DataCam cameras USB interface, and allows the DataCam digital cameras to communicate with the computer over long distances using the fast 1Gbps Ethernet interface. In addition, up to 4 DataCam cameras can be connected to the single DataCam ETH Adapter without the necessity of using additional active network elements. (more...)
Machine vision – some system design issues
Machine vision systems currently get rid of the former reputation of complicated, unreliable and expensive technology. The development in image sensors area and especially the current CPU performance  approached the possibilities of machine vision to user's demands. So the number of applications is growing rapidly. Growth in the number of usage is largely caused by the growing demands on so-called production quality, which is possible to achieve only by inspection of every produced item. It is necessary to eliminate the human factor for that kind of inspection, because „nobody's perfect“. The machine vision is often not only the best, but also the only possible way to implement the required inspections. (more...)
DataLight illuminators for lighting in dark field
The choice of the right way of scene lighting decides about successfulness of solution of machine vision tasks and visual inspection. DataLight DF15 lighting units can help us solve surprisingly many problems with illuminating transparent, shiny and embossed plain objects. These illuminators can e.g. highlight unclear prints of integrated circuits and even a dust on a mirror. Let's see what the principle of lighting in dark field is and how can these illuminators be useful for us. (more...)
Ethernet and USB in automation systems
Ethernet is here with us for quite a long time. In this year, it will be already twenty years since the inception of 10Base-T standard with transmission speed of 10 Mbit/s, which brought communication through UTP - Unshielded Twisted Pair and star bus topology. Since 1990, the Ethernet way is open to all industrial applications. Although the Ethernet is for a long time the most successful and most spread type in computer network connection, in systems of industrial automation was being asserted long and complicated. (more...)
Machine vision lighting units
Choosing the right lighting can be in some cases more important than the choice of the right camera. Useful complement to the DataCam cameras can be the DataLight lighting units, which are possible to control directly by these cameras. (more...)
